School Nurse

Qualifications

• Be qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse
• Hold a current licence to practice nursing
• A minimum of two (2) years experience in school, public health

Responsibilities

• To provide and co-ordinante health care to the school population
• Exercise professional judgement in making decisions
• Communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators and other school personnel
• Initiate referrals to the appropriate persons for intervention, remediation and follo-through.
• Maintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data / records to accommodate the individual needs of students
• Plan, implement and keep abreast of school health management protocols
• Be willing to work on a shift system
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office
• Have certification in CPR or BLS
